Dr. Laffer is the pioneer of the Laffer Curve and flat taxation theories which focus on lowering tax rates and increasing tax base to maximize government revenue. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Treasury and Defense Departments as well as an economic policy adviser to President Reagan. He has also been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump for his contributions in the field of economics.
The Council organized separate high-level meetings with Advisor to PM on Finance & Revenue Mr. Shaukat Tarin and Advisor to PM on Commerce & Investment Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood to deliberate fiscal strategy and economic prospects in Pakistan.

Mr. Shaukat Tarin, with his international exposure and private sector background, found a synergy with Dr. Laffer on privatization & flat tax structures. Dr. Laffer shared perspectives leveraging on his expertise & experience in other countries – such as USA, China, Turkey & Nigeria – and expressed his eagerness to contribute to a more efficient business and economic environment in Pakistan. 

An exclusive meeting between Mr. Shaukat Tarin, Dr. Laffer and the Prime Minister was also arranged by The Council to discuss matters of geo-political significance.

Mr. Shaukat Tarin, Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood and Prime Minister Imran Khan were very receptive to Dr. Laffer’s insights and appreciated the wisdom he shared. Dr. Laffer gifted exclusive signed copies of one of his books to each of the Advisors as well as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
